Total: 319 votes.

Your favourite game of the 2000-01 season was the 5-3 home win over Swansea City on February 24th 2001.  75 of the 319 votes received were for that match.  Your second favourite of the season was the 3-3 FA Cup Third Round draw with First Division QPR at Kenilworth Road on January 6th 2001.  Your third favourite match of the season was the 3-1 win at Swindon on February 24th 2001.  For a match report of the games click below: -

Luton Town 5-3 Swansea City - Division 2 - February 24th 2001.

Luton Town 3-3 QPR - FA Cup Third Round - January 6th 2001.

Swindon Town 1-3 Luton Town - Division Two - February 24th 2001.

MAY 2001

Will we bounce straight back up?

We asked this question immediately after the relegation to Division Three.  Here are the results...

Yeah, course we will! (159) ****************** 83%
No, afraid not. (32) *** 16%
Total: 191 votes.

83% of the 191 who voted think that we will go straight back up from Division Three.  There are a lot of hopeful Hatters out there, we'll have to wait and see if they are right!

APRIL 2001

Are we doomed to relegation?

We set this with 8 games remaining.  Here were the results...

Yup, Division Three here we come... (322) ****************** 85%
No! We are staying up! (55) ** 14%
Total: 377 votes.

85% of the 377 who voted thought that we would go down, and they were right - we finished the season 3rd from bottom with 40 points and will play the 00-02 season in Division Three for the first time since 1968.

FEBRUARY 2001/MARCH 2001

Will Joe Kinnear save us from relegation?

Yeah, sure he will (456) ****************** 90%
Nah, afraid not (47) * 9%
Total: 503 votes.

456 of the 503 who voted think that Joe Kinnear will save us from relegation.  At the time of writing (April 8th) it doesn't look like this will happen unfortunately.  However, with 8 more games to go, we'll just have to wait and see...

DECEMBER 2000/JANUARY 2001

Do you think Lil Fuccillo is the right man for the job?

Yes (501) ********************************************************************************************** 45%
No (527) *************************************************************************************************** 47%
Dunno (85) *************** 7%
Total: 1113 votes.

This was a close vote, with 47% of you thinking that Fuccillo is not the right man for the manager's job, while 45% of Luton supporters think that Mike Watson-Challis got it right when he appointed Fuccillo as manager.  7% of the 1113 people who voted were unsure whether he was the man to lead Luton to glory.  In the end the 527 of you who thought that we needed a new manager were happy - Joe Kinnear took over shortly after we closed this poll.

NOVEMBER 2000

In what has been a very disappointing season so far, who do you think has been the best player?

We thought it would be interesting to see who you thought had been the best Hatter this season so far.  Here are the results...

Nathan ABBEY (147) ***************************** 28%
Emmerson BOYCE (135) ************************** 26%
Liam GEORGE (32) ****** 6%
Tresor KANDOL (8) ** 1%
Paul MCLAREN (89) ***************** 17%
Mark OVENDALE (27) ***** 5%
Matthew SPRING (15) *** 2%
Mark STEIN (22) **** 4%
Matthew TAYLOR (12) ** 2%
Other (27) ***** 5%
Total: 514 votes.

Goalkeeper Nathan Abbey earned the majority of votes as the best Hatters player this season.  He narrowly pipped young defender Emmerson Boyce as 'star' player this campaign, earning 12 more votes.  Captain Paul McLaren came third with striker Liam George in fourth place, but some way behind.  Let's see if you have the same opinion come the end of the season!

OCTOBER 2000

What area of the side do you think needs strengthening most?

We wondered what area of the side you would strengthen if you were in Ricky Hill's boots...

Defence (222) **************************************************** 51%
Midfield (125) ***************************** 29%
Attack (66) *************** 15%
None, we are fine as we are (16) **** 3%
Total: 429 votes.

You were all obviously very keen to have your say on this one as we had the biggest response to a poll so far!  The majority of you wanted the defence to be strengthened, followed by the midfield and then the attack.  16 of you thought that we are fine as we are, how can that be?!  We will see whether or not Ricky Hill does what you want and strengthens the defence...

SEPTEMBER 2000 - Poll 2

Paul McLaren is captain in the absence of Marvin Johnson.  Should he stay as captain full-time?

There was much debate as to whether Marvin Johnson should stay as captain after the impressive form as captain of Paul McLaren.  So we thought we'd let you decide who should be captain...

Yeah, he's better (132) *********************************************************** 58%
Leave it with Marv (57) ************************* 25%
Give it to someone else (35) **************** 15%
Total: 224 votes.

Well, you thought that McLaren should stay as captain!  58% of you said to leave it with him, and 25% of you wanted Johnson to keep it.  15% of you wanted someone else to have it, but I'm afraid McLaren gets the majority vote!  Ricky, take note!

SEPTEMBER 2000 - Poll 1

Out of the current strikers Luton are being linked with, which one would you like them to sign?

As of September 1st, Luton are being linked with a number of new strikers, but which one (if any) would you like them to sign?  We'll see if they get your man!  Here's how you voted...

Dele ADEBOLA (66) ************************************************** 50%
Danny ALLSOPP (4) *** 3%
Richie BARKER (4) *** 3%
Sean DEVINE (22) ***************** 16%
Paul FURLONG (9) ******* 6%
Richie HUMPHREYS (12) ********* 9%
Phil JEVONS (6) ***** 4%
Elliot ONOCHIE (4) *** 3%
Andy RAMMELL (5) **** 3%
Total: 132 votes.

The majority of you want us to sign Birmingham's former Crewe striker Dele Adebola, but we have now just signed NAC Breda's Peter Thomson, so will we still be in the market for a new striker?  Wycombe's prolific striker Sean Devine came second, with the rest coming a way behind.  It shows how difficult being a manager is though as every player got at least 4 votes!  We await to see if the fans choice Adebola signs...

AUGUST 2000

Where do you think Luton will finish next season?

We set this question a week before the start of the 2000-01 season.  We thought we'd see how you thought Luton would fare this season.  We'll see how accurate you all were at the end of the season...

Automatic Promotion (27) ********* 9%
Play-Offs (112) *************************************** 39%
7-10 (83) ***************************** 28%
11-14 (31) *********** 10%
15-17 (10) *** 3%
18-21 (1) 0%
Relegated (23) ******** 8%
Total: 287 votes.

112 of you think that Luton will make the play-offs...will they?  Let's pray that the 23 of you who have predicted relegation are wrong!

JULY 2000

How do you rate www.lutonfc.com?

This was the first question that we set as we wanted to know how YOU all felt about the design and the content of the site.  The results were as follows: -

Superb (54) ************************************************** 50%
Very Good (41) ************************************** 38%
Good (7) ******* 6%
Average (2) ** 1%
Poor (1) * 0%
Rubbish (2) ** 1%
Total: 107 votes.

We were obviously delighted with these results and it made all the hard work we put into the site worthwhile!
