A highly combative midfielder who can also operate in the centre of defence when required, Northern Ireland Under-21 international Marc Wilson joined Luton Town on a month’s loan from Premiership outfit Portsmouth in mid-November 2007.

With the Hatters without midfielders Steve Robinson and David Edwards, who were on international duty with Northern Ireland and Wales respectively, manager Kevin Blackwell moved swiftly to bring in Marc and Chelsea midfielder Anthony Grant on loan spells to cover the midfield positions.

Marc began his career with Manchester United as a YTS player, leaving Old Trafford in 2004 after failing to earn a professional contract. He subsequently moved to Portsmouth on a professional contract.

Appearing regularly for the Reserves at Fratton Park, Marc was loaned to Yeovil Town in during the 2005-06 season and he made his Football League debut for The Glovers in a 2-0 win at Walsall in March 2006. However, after just one more appearance at Huish Park, Marc returned to Fratton Park and his parent club Portsmouth.

In 2007, Marc was loaned to Portsmouth’s South Coast neighbours Bournemouth, making 26 appearances and scoring 3 goals during two loan spells at The Fitness First Stadium.

After returning to Portsmouth, Marc, who has represented Northern Ireland at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-21 level, was on the move again, this time to Kenilworth Road. He made four appearances for Luton Town, but just days after signing on-loan for the Hatters, Luton went into administration and Marc's loan period came to an abrupt end as the Football Association refused the Hatters permission to extend his loan spell under the terms of being in administration.

So, after just one month at Kenilworth Road and four appearances, Marc returned to his parent club Portsmouth.
